Frequently asked
Where is my data?
On your device, and nowhere else. Atlas has no servers and no accounts. Back up your device (iCloud or computer backup) and Atlas's data is included.
Why is there a 3 GB download?
The AI assistant runs entirely on your iPhone. The download is the AI model itself (Google's Gemma, open weights) — fetched once, then everything works offline. Search and organization work even without the model.
The assistant is slow or won't load.
The model needs roughly 3 GB of free storage and performs best on iPhones with 6 GB+ memory (iPhone 12 Pro or newer). Close other heavy apps and re-open Atlas; the first response after launch includes a one-time warmup.
How do I import my notes?
Share anything to Atlas from any app, import files in the Documents tab, or watch a folder in Settings → Watched Folders. Markdown, text, PDFs, images (with text recognition), and exported email (.eml/.mbox) are supported.
How do I get my email in?
Export messages from your mail app as .eml files (or a mailbox as .mbox) into a folder Atlas watches. Atlas deliberately never connects to your mail account — that would require sending credentials over the network.
What does "Atlas noticed" mean?
Deterministic checks over data you already have — health trends, quiet folders, people you haven't seen in a while. No AI involved; you can turn them off in Settings → Observations.
How do I delete everything?
Settings → Reset All Data, or just delete the app. There is no copy anywhere else.
Why does location need "Always" access?
The optional visit log uses Apple's low-power visit detection, which iOS only provides with Always access. The feature is off by default; locations are rounded, stay on device, and are never transmitted.
Something's broken.
Settings → Diagnostics Dashboard shows performance and errors and can export a report — attach it to your email. The report contains device metrics and error messages only, never your documents. (Developer builds also include a Super Demo self-test under Settings → Showcase.)
